x cards mtg Question about (X) mana values. During FNM, one of my opponents was casting a card with an (X) in its mana value while he has around 12 +1/+1 counters on Animar. The put a +1/+1 counter on that creature and a +1/+1 counter on X What does the X mean

Time will tell, but for now it's safe to say opening this card is a worthwhile endeavor

Ideally, you should have something that covers one-shot artifact hate (Relic of Progenitus, Tormods Crypt, etc.), the interaction thats hidden in the opponents hand (Endurance, countermagic, etc.), other problematic permanents (Dauthi Voidwalker, Sanctifier en -Vec), and sometimes enchantment with static abilities (Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace)

Chocobo Kick has been even better than expected, and it fights closely with Summon: Fat Chocobo and Town Greeter for the title of best green common
