Being unable to block makes it a card you only really want in aggressive creature decks but his light coloured mana requirements, artifact/discard synergies, and other many perks make him pretty common to see

Fallen Shinobi and Biting-Palm Ninja can use their ninjutsu abilities easily with cheap flying faeries

Cards like Blossoming Tortoise, Tatyova, Steward of Tides and Jyoti, Moag Ancient specifically reward animated lands and often play well with these cards as well as creature lands

You could just cast Beanstalk Giant if you have need of smashing now or you don't want to risk Fertile Footsteps getting countered
