This unfortunately is not the Yu-Gi-Oh anime where Monsters appear to at least have some amount of sentience, and it may take a while if you're relying on a piece of paper to make a choice

It could be a nice way of resetting the board if youre not having a good game, or you could gear your strategy to having too many items and then swapping them all for new cards to overwhelm your opponent.

On the flip side the pool of cards is sufficiently weaker that you end up paying that 2 mana if/when you use the lesson
