The prolific price rise, and particularly the recent spike, may well have something to do with the upcoming The Hobbit set, releasing in August (check the MTG release schedule here)
Restricted to Emerald/Sapphire with its dual-ink, it also fully heals whatever card it is shifted onto and can either do some immediate hefty damage with 5 strength, or quest immediately for two lore
