The enchantments that actually were good at killing opponents were Palace Siege (which also had a second mode) and the infamous Sulfuric Vortex (which combined mana efficiency with stopping lifegain)
Casting Tome Scour on turn one on the play is also the best answer to discard and opponents one mana countermagic if milling starts before they can play their first land in the game, the opponent often feels hopeless
