They ultimately do much the same thing in this archetype but Elder does it more conveniently, appropriately and better

Both also worked very well with Mm'menon, Uthros Exile, which would get counters each time these artifacts entered

We totally loved it, as well as the Battle Acedemy as well, with 3 very nice decks, gameboard, counters, and cards like Charizard-GX, Raichu-GX, or Mewtwo-GX it's one of the best, if not the best Pokemon set for beginners

Others have ongoing effects that automatically apply in the background- those are Passive Abilities

It's so popular that almost all of the Commanders from #15 on have at least 2k decks registered over at EDHREC.com (checked after I make this list, not before)
