As a side effect, most Pokmon in the anime have moves that deal in both short and long-range combat, even if the Pokmon in question would only be effective with one of them in the games: For example, Team Rocket's Mimikyu knows both Shadow Ball (for long-ranged combat) and Shadow Claw (for short-ranged combat) despite being mainly a physical attacker in the games (and thus would normally only have Shadow Claw, which uses its physical attack)
For example, if only Porcelain Gallery is unlocked, the permanent's mana value is 6
Remember the Fallen is a card I run quite often in white decks, and I highly value the ability to get two cards back rather than having recursion be on a body, a la Eternal Witness
For added pain, use anime sleeves as well
Both of those have the potential to protect your planeswalker from attacks and give you an immediate and lingering advantage by ensuring you keep your planeswalker around for further activations
