Mainly because blue-white (as the preference for at least 2 of the colors for your Commander) don't have that good Voltron commanders to blow the other colors completely out of the waters
before the Stasis Prison deck has an established board of mana sources, lock components, and permanent-based threat protection, the Stasis Player will sustain a considerable amount of damage from resolved threats
Additionally, the ability to prevent non-flyers from blocking for a turn is a sneaky way to swing at someone for lethal damage by taking blockers out of play
