Using this with something like Beacon of Immortality will stack further, allowing you to multiply your life by eight (and probably one-shot an opponent if you have Sanguine Bond in play)

Two mana to discard two cards is also just an incredible price, and is especially potent when Hymn to Tourach follows a turn-one discard spell like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek

You can cast this as early on the first turn for getting a basic land that you need, and you can cast this later for Diabolic Tutor mana to get the best card for your library
