Looking at other cards from the Gargoyle series, like Demona and Goliath, they appear to focus on hand manipulation
There are very, very few cards that can deal six damage in one hit, meaning Nani is going to be able to farm for Lore and defend your weaker characters for at least two turns (combined with the Simba earlier on this list, that could potentially net you ten points of Lore in a turn, provided you manage your Ink right to get them out at the same time)
Not to mention that Little John, Resourceful Outlaw needing to be exerted to have his effect take hold is an easy cost to pay, considering how many resistant Bodyguards your opponents will likely have to get through to challenge him.
Access to removal is big for Emerald while keeping tempo, but discard or strength buffs will always have a place
