In fact, if you don't like the idea of depending so much on randomness, we can arrange it so that Cowardice goes away every time Grip of Chaos is about to come up, to guarantee that whatever Grip chooses is irrelevant--all it will accomplish this way is getting more Psychic Battle triggers, and then we can reintroduce Cowardice to the board again before those triggers resolve
