Ashmead's Kernel Year:1 YR A good cropper with beautifulA late season apple that can be used as an eater and for cider. Sweet and sharp with firm white flesh and entirely russeted. Has high sugar content which develops with storage will keep until February. Raised by a Dr Ashmead of Gloucester around 1720, but did not become popular until the nineteenth century where it was appreciated due to its distinctive flavour. Fell out of favour in the first half of the twentieth century, but has since enjoyed a
