He went on to serve as a senior officer in World War II and the Korean War. Ultimately awarded five Navy Crosses and one Army Distinguished Service Cross, he was one of only two servicemen with this achievement and is the most decorated Marine in American history. After Korea, Puller took command of the 2nd Marine Division
