The subject rendered in Blossfeldt's signature high contrast grayscale displays an almost architectural rigidity: repeated geometric nodes, tapering stalks, and bilateral symmetry that seem engineered rather than grown. Working in early 20th century Berlin, Blossfeldt used his handcrafted macro apparatus to reveal
