There are beautiful soaring melodies in the violins and cellos within the opening section, which sit comfortably in 1st position. The viola section has a solo in the contrasting C major middle section which is composed in more of a choral style. There are some opportunities for 3rd position work for more advanced students in the 1 st violins in order to create a warmer sound.
