No printed publishing date but London Library gives 1942 which would tally with the inscription, perhaps signed at the book's launch or soon after. Original pale blue cloth boards, lower board heavily soiled. Without the dust jacket. The inscription runs, "For Mr & Mrs Burgess, in remembrances of a happy encounter, from Agnes Grozier Herbertson
