This edgy work really packs a punch as it conjures up all sorts of emotions associated with flight and fright. The dark tones of G minor in conjunction with relentless quavers, create a particularly menacing mood. A noble theme in the cellos is introduced but later gives way to the hammering quaver textures. Players will enjoy the drive yet highly expressive qualities of the music. Grade 3.
